Essential Functions:
Manages and oversees the Chemistry, Microbiology, & Lubricant Laboratory operations. Coordinate project assignments and Laboratory testing programs associated with the manufacturing, sterilization, and product release of medical devices. Provide leadership in Laboratory operations and the implementation of systems for regulatory compliance & quality improvement. Establish Laboratory metrics, tracks performance, and develops personnel through training programs. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to speak, read and write English. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Manages and oversees the Chemistry, Microbiology, & Lubricant Laboratory operations.
2. Coordinate project assignments and Laboratory testing programs associated with the manufacturing, sterilization, and product release of medical devices.
3. Provide leadership in Laboratory operations and the implementation of systems for regulatory compliance & quality improvement.
4. Provide leadership to sterilization validations and maintenance.
5. Establish Laboratory metrics, tracks performance, and develops personnel through training programs.
6. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and practices and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures.
7. Manages and oversees the Chemistry and Microbiology budget and project chargeouts.
Required Skills and Knowledge - B.S. in Chemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent technical discipline.
Minimum
Experience:
At least five years demonstrated leadership experience in the Scientific field and QA/RA or Laboratory Management. Thorough knowledge of Medical Device / GMP (FDA/ISO) / Laboratory regulations.
Strong verbal, technical writing, analytical, computer (MS), and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of statistical tools. Mechanical ability a plus.
Technical Area of Expertise - Federal & State Environmental regulations, FDA/ISO/GMP Standards, Chemistry, Microbiology, sterilization, and Laboratory Management.
