Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an Engineer in our System Protection Department at the Columbus General Office. Summary of Job duties : The System Protection Department at the Columbus General Office has responsibilities including specifying appropriate protection schemes, making relay recommendations, performing calculations to support relay settings, developing trip-checking procedures, calculating ground potential rise, calculating available fault current, locating faults, analyzing system disturbances, operational support and project management. Engineer (Level I) Entry level position with assignments designed to develop general knowledge of professional engineering practice in the electric utility industry and introduce customer/supplier communication skills. Engineer (Level II) Second level position with assignments designed to develop competent technical knowledge within an engineering discipline, develop customer relations skills, and introduce project management skills. Engineer (Level III) A fully competent engineer in conventional aspects within the specific discipline with expertise in specific areas of past assignments. Assignments designed to expand the areas of expertise within the discipline, develop project management skills, and develop a general knowledge of other disciplines. Level I to Level III Engineer is considered a progression and is approved by the appropriate manager. NOTE: The level assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by the candidate''s skills and ability. Essential Functions of Position: Performs tasks of limited and specific scope under the direction of experienced personnel. Applies standard engineering practices and techniques, utilizing prescribed methods in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Judgment is required on details of work such as correlating data and recognizing discrepancies in results. Communicates with customers and suppliers as directed by supervision. Performance of a variety of specific tasks within each of the primary responsibility areas to gain and demonstrate: A general understanding of the process involved A general understanding of the electric utility industry The ability to manage personal performance General understanding of economic/accounting principles Single task assignments with supervision Prepare design calculations Obtain field data Utilize drawings Develop design requirements Prepare design calculations Develop drawings and material lists Develop request for quotation: Coordinate with procurement departments Develop cost estimates Prepare design calculations Obtain field data Utilize drawings Develop design requirements Develop drawings and material lists
Qualifications: Education and Training: B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college OR P.E. and B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from a Non-ABET accredited school. Licenses and/or Certifications Required: (Level III) - PE License preferred . Competencies that should be demonstrated: 1. Salary Information: Engineer I - Pay Grade 12: $5,085 - $6,423/month Engineer II - Pay Grade 13: $5,703 - $7,204/month Engineer III - Pay Grade 14: $6,486 - $8,353/month Resumes will be accepted through April 15, 2014 . The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
