GENERAL FUNCTION/

RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to answers troubled calls from Manufacturing departments as required. investigates problems and recomends changes to minimize or eliminate the cause of problem to the
supervisor
or Tooling Engineer.
Works from blue prints, sketches, general instructions to dissassemble, inspect,
repair
, and assemble various molds, tools, and mechanical equipment. examines equipment details for wear, misalignment, broken components etc determines part replacement or repair as needed, performs required work and assembles equipment per specified drawing design specifications
Performs final fitting operations on purchased / repaired components for proper assembly. as required, fabricates any replacement part within the capability of available Tool Room equipment.
Performs the highly critical assembly operations, refitting,reventing or making adjustments as necessary for the mold to achieve designed objectives. performs necessary calcuations to check tool to exacting specifications.
Operates any Tool Room and inspection equipment in the performance of repairs and maintenance duties or when required to make new parts.
Answers troubled calls from Manufacturing departments as required. investigates problems and recomends changes to minimize or eliminate the cause of problem to the Supervisor or Tooling Engineer.
Maintains equipment maintenance and repair history records, details of work performed, parts replaced, and the labor hours, as required. Maintains daily work records.
Effecient at operating a
computer
to gather and record data, run reports and document results.
Clean mold plates and all components.
Check for proper gating, venting and cooling of mold.
Skillful use of machinists hand tools such as micrometers, indicators, height gages, etc.
Operate all machine tools. ie Mills, Lathes, Dedtru, O.D./I.D. Grinding, Surface, Tool Post with the ability to hold tolerances of up to
/ -.0001 preferred.
Experience that demonstrates mechanical aptitude necessary to troubleshoot and repair Molds and Mold equipment.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Comply with all Plant and department safety policies and procedures.
Other duties and needed
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree in Machining Technology, Tool & Die and/or Moldmaking preferred.
Experience required through a formal apprenticeship in mold repair or mold making preferred.
Experience in machine modifications and process improvements on equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Must have working knowledge of molding, mold design, and material flow and knowledge of mold steels and their applications.
Experience with Hot Runner systems. ie Hot Tip, Valve Gate, preferred.
Possess trouble shooting skills to be used for continuous process improvements and mold improvement projects through the use of mold data collection.
Dependable, highly motivated self-starter, in a team environment with minimal supervision.
The ability to train and develop other mold repair associates.
The ability to test and trouble shoot mold electrical systems.
Experience with Auto-cad or Inventor or drawing.
